Operating Sessions - Jim Norwood
![]()
Ever gone to an operating session just itching to do a lot of switching and end up with the passenger train that doesn't do any? Well, if you operate at Chip Romig's S-Scale "Colorado and Silver River" the passenger job is one you'll want to get. Chip has a cab mock up that you'll sit in and run your train based on a camera in the nose of the engine. Kind of adds a whole new twist to the passenger train job!
Want to ride the narrow gauge through the Rockies or work a shay up a 4% switchback or how about performing prototypical logging operations? You'll have your chance on Jerry Hoverson's Rocky Mountain Central and the Colorado Pacific.
Feel like taking a freight train that has soooo much switching that you will need the entire session to run just that train or maybe you'd like to operate a steel mill with all the prototype moves or maybe you are a yard dog and want to operate a very large main terminal yard complete with full engine facilities and a 16 stall roundhouse. Those are just a couple of jobs available to you at the large South Side Railroad Modelers' South Side and Rio Mesa railroad.
That is just a few of examples of the great layouts you will have an opportunity to operate and I could go on and on.
There is going to be plenty to choose from and we will even have some small 1 to 3 operator layouts so if you are new to operations you can feel comfortable getting your feet wet and learning about this fun part of the hobby.
Here's the layouts that are currently available to choose from:
